Helmut Lüers has seen the world in 25 years at Big Dutchman
On 1 June, it will have been 25 years since Horst Elfreich and Helmut Lüers started working for Big Dutchman.
Horst Elfreich was a sales executive from his first day at the pig and poultry equipment supplier based in Vechta, Germany. The first countries he was responsible for were the post-Soviet states that emerged after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Today, the countries in Eastern Europe represent some of the most important Big Dutchman markets, thanks in large part to the tireless dedication of Horst Elfreich and his good understanding of what customers need.
With increasing contract volume, Elfreich handed over some of his responsibilities and is currently in charge of selling poultry equipment in Moldova, the Ukraine and Belarus. During his extensive travels, he also managed some projects in Russia and Azerbaijan.
For Helmut Lüers, it took a ten-minute interview and a single day of waiting afterwards until he had the job and started working for Big Dutchman just a month later. Since then, Helmut Lüers has used his experience for the electronics customer service and has circumnavigated the globe several times. Lüers is a trained electrician and electronics technician for energy and ensures that poultry and pig equipment around the world are put into operation and serviced accurately.
His first assignment abroad took Lüers to Greece, followed by jobs in Canada and the US as well as Asia. He has seen the world and had many memorable experiences during his travels. His conversation with American-Australian actor Mel Gibson in a bar in Australia is just one of the many anecdotes he can tell.
“Big Dutchman is considered the world’s largest equipment supplier for modern pig and poultry production today. Without employees as loyal and motivated as you are, this success would never have been possible,” Big Dutchman board member Bernd Meerpohl thanked Lüers and Elfreich.
Management and colleagues would like to convey their congratulations and wish both men all the best and much success in their future endeavours for Big Dutchman.
