The pig feeding systems – here the EasySlider – attracted much interest
Equipment for pig finishing
Big Dutchman looks back on a successful VIV Asia 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. On a 432 m2 stand, the pig equipment supplier presented many new products and innovative developments of existing products, as well as worldwide classics both for pig and poultry production. "Our stand was met with outstanding visitor interest. Big Dutchman's pig equipment enjoys great popularity and the many conversations showed that we are well prepared for the market trends in this region," said Anupap Daengbubpa, BD Agriculture (Thailand) Ltd., about three busy days of VIV Asia. It was the largest booth Big Dutchman ever had at the leading trade fair for modern animal production in Asia, which takes place every two years.
Pig equipment and pig feeding systems for the region Asia/Pacific
One of the pig equipment highlights was the computer-controlled dry feeding system DryExactpro. "In many Asian countries, farmers are starting to use automatic feeding systems. Our dry feeding systems were therefore much in demand," says Regional Project Coordinator Daengbubpa about the changing markets and perfectly adapted products. One of the benefits of the DryExactpro, which can be easily integrated into the state-of-the-art pig house management system BigFarmNet, is that feed can be dispensed based on volume or weight at each valve.
Furthermore, there is fundamental change regarding management types on the horizon. "Instead of keeping some pigs in the backyard, the trend is to build modern farms with controlled hygiene and health status," explains Big Dutchman expert Daengbubpa. The pig climate control systems offered by Big Dutchman were therefore much sought after as well. Many visitors asked for tunnel ventilation solutions. With this ventilation system, the air is pulled through the house in longitudinal direction at a high speed.
Another focus of interest: the pig equipment supplier's products for housing systems and EasySlider, a computer-controlled dosing device for farrowing pens. With this system, the sow can choose for herself when and how much she wants to eat.
To meet again
As is tradition for Big Dutchman, the kick-off meeting the day before the show opened was more of a large family reunion: 150 Big Dutchman employees, agents and distributors from the Asia-Pacific region met with numerous colleagues from the Germany-based company headquarters to exchange ideas on product innovations, further developments and market trends. The grand finale of this preparatory "convention" was the intriguing talk of the New Zealander Grant "Axe" Rawlinson. The extreme climber spoke about what it means to be a good team. When faced with an extreme situations, a good team will prove itself – just like in a successful company.
Getting the Big Dutchman family together on the eve of international major trade shows has been the custom for many years. In addition to a strict training program, sociability is also encouraged. "When you work closely together with a colleague, when you manage large projects together, when you even start talking about your family and become friends with the colleague, it's sad when you rarely, or never, see them because of the distance. These meetings are therefore really important for the team spirit," one of the participants puts it in a nutshell.
