83 years ago, the Big Dutchman founders invented the automatic feed chain, which automated poultry houses the world over. The concept is still the basis for standard components in poultry feeding systems today. Of course the decades have left their mark on the big seller: the poultry equipment supplier from Vechta has continuously adapted the chain feeding system to the technical progress in the barns.
Here are some recent detail improvements as well as new components:
Chain tensioner
The new Big Dutchman chain tensioner for feed chains in breeder houses makes it easy to re-tension the chain during the batch, without any time-consuming disassembling. The trough length for males and females can be adjusted through the spindle. The chain runs smoothly and ensures that the feed is transported and distributed in an ideal manner.
Reinforced 90° feed corner for high loads
For feed circuits that are exposed to high mechanical loads, Big Dutchman has developed a new feed corner with a Hardox base, manufactured from a very wear-resistant sheet steel. This reinforcing extends the service life even with high mechanical loads. The new shaft is zinc-nickel-coated and therefore perfectly protected against corrosion. This corner was developed for use in chain circuits with a speed of 36 m/min and when grit is added to the feed.
Alternative eating grille with anti-roost function for female feeding
As an alternative to the previously used high-profile grille, Big Dutchman has developed a new eating grille for its medium trough that comes with an anti-roost function. The poultry equipment supplier can thus react flexibly to customer demands. The shape in the upper area of the eating grille has been adapted to the breeders’ needs.
Chain feeding in breeder houses – further enhancements and modifications (selection)
- space-saving foot for the drive;
- more compact design of the drive’s hanger;
- corrosion-resistant post set with stainless steel feet for the feed hopper;
- optimised covers for the feed hopper.
