Laying eggs where others go on holiday: at an altitude of idyllic 1,537 metres, Luca Crazzolara recently refurbished his old cow barn into a modern poultry house, including a range for the hens. All equipment for the new building is from Big Dutchman. The core of the poultry house situated in the Italian village of San Cassiano, South Tyrol, is the Natura Nova Twin welfare aviary: a true classic from the portfolio of the German poultry equipment supplier. A total of 5,680 laying hens can leave the house during the day to scratch or peck at worms on the range while enjoying a breathtaking view.
Italy: welfare aviary for 5,680 laying hens
A barn with a view: keeping layers at an altitude of 1,573 metres
Together with the farmer, Big Dutchman planned a customised house. A special feature: the intermediate ceiling in the building. The aviary with the birds is installed on the top floor while the bottom floor contains the egg packing station, the control cabinet and technical rooms.
Natura Nova Twin is a member of the Natura product family, a very successful and modular aviary system for egg production. Big Dutchman can currently offer egg producers an incredible 30 different models.
