At this year’s EuroTierBig Dutchman presented the OptiSec drying tunnel, an impressive innovation for the effective processing of solid phase of digestate from biogas units. OptiSec excels with its high digestate capacity delivering 95% dry matter in the product greatly reducing digestate volume. The system was originally conceived for animal production systems where it has been proved successful.
The advantages of the new drying tunnel are multifaceted. The high intake capacity, due to the large 1.75 m wide tunnel, ranges from two to 85 tonnes digestate per day. In the drying process, valuable nutrients are stabilised. The result: the relatively simple drying process delivers a digestate product which is as light as hay with reduced storage space requirements. It can be used as a high value fertiliser or as a fuel. In addition, the system is eligible for support under the German combined heat and power bonus (“KWK-Bonus”) where the product is used as fertiliser.
